Summer Camp Parent Testimonials

As a family, we highly recommend the GCA summer arts camp! Our daughter has attended one session for each of the last two summers and loved it. There is a great deal of variety packed into each day: arts and crafts, dance, games, and swimming/pool-time. To us, it seemed like a great balance of physical activity, creative stimulation and just-plain fun. We greatly enjoyed the counselors, who were the right age to feel accessible to the kids, but responsible enough to satisfy the parents as well. Our daughter met up with some old friends and made new friends as well. The Groton School campus is a fabulous location for this camp, with access to great spaces, both indoor and outside. Our children will definitely attend this camp again.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

I would like to commend the many people involved in the Groton Arts Camp. A summer camp experience for a young child can be a trying affair if the camp is not run competently or diligently. The staff and counselors at the Groton Arts Camp obviously held these factors in high regard as well as, making the experience enjoyable for the children and their parents.

My six year old daughter loved the camp and had a tremendous time with each activity the camp offered her for the half day program. The activities my daughter participated in were age appropriate and informative, as well as fun. She tried new things and enjoyed taking part in the end of the session performance. The counselors were a lot of fun and interacted well with each child. (The counselors also did a great job keeping the kids extra clothing and backpacks organized and made sure each child had the correct items!!) Although the counselors were younger than I expected, they each took their job seriously and made each child feel welcome. Drop-off times at camp are for the most part crazy, but at GCA they somehow were organized and well supervised!! The counselors always greeted my daughter by name, and made her feel welcome each day and found someone her age to sit with and talk to before camp started. She made many new friends, as well as, cemented some already blossoming friendships.

My daughter is a swimmer and loved the pool, her thoughts on the pool were that it wasn't enough time!!! :) I was impressed as a parent, at the supervision in the pool area and again how the counselors interacted with all the children (and kept their towels with the correct owner)!!! Even though some of the days were a little cooler, the counselors were in the water helping the children swim or just keeping mayhem to a minimum!!!

The cost of the camp with reference to other camps in the area, is very reasonable considering the hours the camp runs as well as, what is offered. My daughter cannot wait till summer so she can return and I feel confident that my daughter will be well supervised and have fun throughout her summer camp experience!!! Thank you to everyone involved!!

My son has had an excellent time at the GCA Summer Artworks camp program. Our first year he attended part time and never wanted to leave so the next year I enrolled him in the full day program. The counselors are outstanding and they have always made him feel great about himself. They have taken the time to care for him as well as befriend him. He loves rec time as well as swimming. I know he his safe and he is in good hands. We look forward to another year of camp.

My daughter had a great experience at Artworks! She really enjoyed the variety of arts and crafts that were offered and was proud to display her finished projects in the Art Show at the end of her session. The pool was also a big hit and helped add to the feeling of attending “summer camp.” My daughter is somewhat shy when meeting new people, but the counselors made her feel very welcome and she was eager to attend every day.
