About GCA

Our History

Groton Center for the Arts (GCA) was established by Irene Buck, our founder, in 1974.  Her vision for this organization was to raise awareness of the arts in Groton and surrounding communities, and to enhance our sense of community through the arts.  Over the years the organization has built a proud history and there have been many wonderful accomplishments. These include:

  • The founding of Indian Hill Symphony

  • Summer Artworks Program for children of all ages

  • Winter Skateworks Program for children and families

  • Organization of the First Grotonfest

  • Organization of Groton's First Artwalk

  • Sponsoring of "The Finest Kind", an introduction to this area's most talented and prolific artists

  • Bringing First Night to Groton three years ago --- and the list goes on and on.

GCA Today

Today, GCA continues to offer all people the opportunity to enjoy and enrich their lives through observing, participating, supporting, and encouraging the arts.  We are a non-profit organization dedicated to providing the community with quality arts programs.

We rely on the support of our members and the community to sponsor the many activities we offer throughout the year.

Our Mission

Our reason for existence is to build a spirit of community through the arts, providing opportunities to experience the joys of the visual arts, music, theater, and dance as participants and spectators.
